Jeremy Camp – “Christ In Me” (Share Worthy Song)

When Jeremy Camp released Christ In Me in 2015 on his I Will Follow album, it was more than just another worship track — it was a declaration of surrender. Co‑written with Bernie Herms, the song came out of Jeremy’s own realization that chasing the world’s definition of success leaves you empty, but letting Christ live through you changes everything.

The opening lines admit what so many of us feel but rarely say: we get caught up in the things this world says will make us happy, only to find ourselves weighed down by them. And then comes the turning point — “So come and empty me, so that it’s You I breathe. I want my life to be only Christ in me.” It’s not a polite request for God to “help out” — it’s a full handing over of the keys.

The first time I really listened to it, I was in one of those seasons where I was trying to push through on my own strength. I thought if I just worked harder, prayed harder, planned better, I could make things happen. But this song stopped me in my tracks. It reminded me of Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

It’s a truth that’s both freeing and humbling — freeing because the weight isn’t all on your shoulders anymore, humbling because it means letting go of control. Colossians 1:27 calls it “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” That hope isn’t built on our ability to get it right, but on His presence within us.

For someone reading this, maybe you’ve been running on empty, trying to be enough in your own strength. Christ In Me is a reminder that the Christian life isn’t about polishing up the outside — it’s about letting Jesus transform you from the inside out.

So let this song be your prayer today. Let it be the moment you stop striving and start surrendering. Because the world doesn’t need to see a perfect version of you — it needs to see Christ in you.
