Tauren Wells "Fully Known" Melodies of Mercy

Tauren Wells – “Known” (Melodies of Mercy)

When Tauren Wells released Known in 2018, it wasn’t just another radio single — it was a confession wrapped in melody. Co-written with Ethan Hulse and Jordan Sapp, the song was born out of Tauren’s own wrestling with the tension between being fully seen and fully loved. It’s a truth that sounds beautiful in theory, but can feel almost impossible to believe when you’re carrying the weight of your own flaws.

The first time I heard it, I wasn’t in a place of feeling “put together.” I was in one of those seasons where you wonder if God’s love is still as steady when you’re not at your best. And then that chorus hit — “I’m fully known and loved by You” — and it was like someone turned on a light in a dark room. Not a blinding spotlight, but a warm lamp that made me feel safe enough to stay.

There’s something about the way Tauren sings it — not as a man who’s mastered the concept, but as someone who’s still amazed by it. That’s what makes it believable. It reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:12, where Paul says, “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” God’s knowledge of us isn’t a reason for Him to pull away — it’s the very reason He draws near.

I think about the times I’ve tried to hide the messier parts of myself, even from God, as if He didn’t already see them. And yet, His love has never been based on my ability to impress Him. Psalm 139:1–4 says He knows every thought before I speak it, every step before I take it — and still, He stays. That’s the kind of love that changes you, not by force, but by faithfulness.

For someone reading this, maybe you’ve been holding God at arm’s length because you’re afraid of what He’ll see. But here’s the truth: He already sees it, and He’s not going anywhere. Known is more than a song — it’s an open door to step into the kind of relationship where you don’t have to pretend.

So let it play. Let it remind you that you are fully seen, fully understood, and still fully loved. And maybe today, instead of trying to be “enough,” you can simply be His.
