A Declaration of Devotion

When the Ward brothers — Josh, Jordan, and Caleb — formed Consumed By Fire, they weren’t chasing fame. They were chasing obedience. Raised in a ministry family, they grew up watching their parents serve in small churches and on the mission field. “Walk With Jesus” was born out of that legacy — a song written not in a studio bubble, but in the trenches of real life, where faith is tested and choices matter. It’s their way of saying, We’ve decided who we’re following, and we’re not turning back.

I know what it’s like to search for answers in all the wrong places — chasing after things that promised to fill the emptiness but left me more hollow than before. There’s a kind of ache the world can’t heal, a hunger it can’t satisfy. It wasn’t until I chose to walk with Jesus that everything began to change. Not overnight, not without struggle — but step by step, my life began to take on a new direction, a new purpose, a new hope.

Consumed By Fire’s Walk With Jesus feels like the soundtrack to that decision. It’s not a polite, quiet hymn — it’s a bold, unashamed anthem for anyone who’s drawn a line in the sand and said, “I’m His, and I’m not turning back.” It carries the same heartbeat as Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That’s not just a verse to hang on a wall — it’s a declaration you live out in the grit of everyday life.

This song reminds me that walking with Jesus isn’t about rules or religion. It’s about relationship. It’s about choosing love over bitterness, trust over fear, obedience over compromise — even when the world pulls in every other direction. And the beauty is, no matter how far you’ve wandered, you’re never too far gone. He meets you right where you are, dusts you off, and walks with you forward.

I think of Amos 3:3 — “Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?” Walking with Jesus is agreeing with Him about who He is, who you are, and where He’s leading. It’s a daily “yes” that shapes every step.

So if you’re feeling alone on the path, take courage. Even if no one else goes with you, you’re not walking it by yourself. His way is the only way that leads to life — and every step with Him is a step toward freedom.
