Ben Fuller ~ Artist of the Week 11/27/25

Ben Fuller’s journey is one that feels like a living testimony, a reminder that God can take the most broken places and turn them into songs of hope. Raised on a dairy farm in Vermont, he grew up surrounded by hard work but also carried wounds that led him down a path of addiction and emptiness. For years he lived in secret chains, until the overdose of a friend shook him awake. That moment became a turning point, and in surrendering to Christ, Ben found not only freedom but a calling to share his story through music. His songs are not polished masks; they are raw declarations of grace, and that honesty is what makes them resonate so deeply with people walking through their own battles.

This year Ben released his album Walk Through Fire, and most recently extended version Songs from the Smoke a project that captures both the pain of the past and the joy of redemption. He’s been carrying those songs across the country on his Walk Through Fire Tour, standing on stage as living proof that God’s mercy is stronger than any chain. His testimony is not about perfection but about transformation, and that’s why his music connects — because it reminds us that no one is too far gone for grace.

One of his most powerful songs is If I Got Jesus. It strips life down to its essence, declaring that when everything else fades, Christ remains. Listening to it, I’m reminded of Paul’s words in Philippians 3:8: “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” The song echoes that truth — nothing compares to having Jesus, and when He is enough, everything else finds its place.

Another track that speaks deeply is Black Sheep. In it, Ben sings about the outsider — the one who feels unworthy, overlooked, or too far gone. But the song flips that narrative, declaring that God’s grace is big enough to welcome even the “black sheep” home. For me, it’s a reminder that no matter how far I’ve wandered, I’m still pursued by love. Scripture ties directly into this in Luke 15:4: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?” The song reflects this reality — that God doesn’t abandon us, He rescues us, and that changes everything.

Since Jesus is a bold declaration of transformation. It’s relatable because it speaks to the before‑and‑after of encountering Christ, a shift I’ve lived myself. The words of 2 Corinthians 5:17 capture it perfectly: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The song embodies this verse, celebrating the new life found in Jesus and reminding us that the past no longer defines us.

Ben Fuller’s music is more than melody; it is testimony. His songs encourage us to lay down idols, embrace our identity in Christ, and walk boldly in new life. If you’ve been waiting to take a step of faith, now is the time. Don’t let hesitation hold you back — God’s grace is already reaching for you, and His love is calling you forward.
