ASAP Preach – born Ian Barnett – didn’t step into Christian rap from a place of comfort. He grew up in a broken home, surrounded by drugs, drinking, and pain he didn’t know how to name by his teens, he was chasing the streets, trying to numb rejection and hurt. But in his lowest moment, God met him in a way that changed everything. Alone, desperate, and ready to give up, he opened a Bible and felt the Holy Spirit speak peace into a place where peace shouldn’t exist. That encounter became the turning point — the moment he traded the world’s empty promises for the hope of Jesus.
Since then, ASAP Preach has poured his life into full‑time ministry and music, using his gift for hip‑hop to reach people who might never step into a church. His shows aren’t just concerts — they’re altar calls. He’s seen people drop to their knees mid‑set, not because of the beat, but because the Spirit was moving. He serves his local church, hits the streets to share the gospel, and makes sure his lyrics point to the only One who can truly save.
For me, his music has been more than background noise — it’s been a soundtrack to my own walk. Songs like:
“Now I Know” — a declaration of identity in Christ, reminding me that my worth isn’t up for debate.
“Run to You” — the anthem I’ve played on days when I needed to stop running from God and start running toward Him.
“Let It Ring” — a bold call to let the truth of the gospel echo louder than the lies of the enemy.
“All of Me” — a surrender song that’s helped me lay down the parts of my life I wanted to control.
“War Ready” — a reminder that this walk is a battle, but we fight from victory, not for it.
Each track has been a nudge back to center — a reminder that my mission with GoodChristianMusic.com is the same as his on stage: to point people to the One who lifts us up, no matter where they’ve been.
Scripture says, “Do not love the world or anything in the world… The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2:15‑17). That’s the heartbeat of Christian rap at its best — it’s not about chasing trends that fade, but about spitting truth that lasts. ASAP Preach proves that rapping about the Word is not only possible, it’s powerful. It’s cooler than anything the world can offer, because it’s eternal.
If you’ve ever thought Christian rap couldn’t hit as hard as what’s on the charts, give ASAP Preach a listen. You’ll hear the difference — not just in the beats, but in the hope behind them. And maybe, like me, you’ll find a lyric or two that changes the way you see yourself, your past, and the God who writes better endings than we ever could.
