Danny Gokey knows what it’s like to have life stop in its tracks. Before the world knew him from American Idol, he was a young husband who lost his wife just weeks before auditioning. It reminds me of Ezekiel 36:26 — “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” That’s what He does. He doesn’t just patch us up — He makes us new.

And as 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The past doesn’t get the final word. The scars remain, but they tell a story of healing, not defeat.
