Rend Collective’s story begins on the coast of Northern Ireland, in the seaside town of Bangor. What started as a small group of friends meeting for worship in a young adults ministry called “Rend” became a movement — a folk‑infused worship collective with a mission to reach people who might never set foot in a church. From the beginning, they’ve called themselves “a worship band for people who don’t go to church,” determined to break down walls with joy, authenticity, and the gospel.
Their music is rooted in the belief that worship should be both reverent and wildly alive — that celebration is a spiritual discipline. Over the years, they’ve carried that message from small church halls to massive arenas, from campfire sing‑alongs to global tours. And through it all, their heartbeat has stayed the same: to point people to Jesus with honesty, humor, and hope.
Three of their songs have been anchors in my own walk:
Counting Every Blessing — This song came to me in a season when gratitude felt far away. Life was heavy, and I was focused on what I’d lost instead of what I still had. Singing “I am blessed beyond all measure” shifted my perspective. It reminded me of 1 Thessalonians 5:18 — “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Gratitude didn’t erase the struggle, but it opened my eyes to see God’s hand still at work.
Hallelujah Anyway — This one is a defiant kind of praise. It’s not about waiting for the storm to pass before you worship — it’s about lifting your voice right in the middle of it. I’ve had days where the last thing I felt like saying was “hallelujah,” but this song reminded me that praise is a choice. Psalm 34:1 says, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” That “at all times” includes the hard times.
Fight of My Life — Their newest anthem hits like a rally cry. It’s about holding on to faith when the battle feels endless, about remembering that we don’t fight alone. This one has pushed me to keep showing up, even when I’m tired, because Ephesians 6:13 tells us to “put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.” It’s a reminder that the fight isn’t just mine — it’s His, and He’s already won.
Rend Collective’s music has walked with me through gratitude, through grit, and through the kind of praise that refuses to quit. They’ve taught me that joy is not naïve — it’s a weapon. That worship isn’t just for Sunday mornings — it’s for the kitchen table, the hospital room, the late‑night drive. And that no matter where you are in your story, there’s always a reason to sing.
