Seph Schlueter - Artist of the Week 7/18/25

Artist of the Week: Seph Schlueter – A Heart That Echoes Heaven

Some artists write songs. Seph Schlueter writes encounters. Born Joseph Schlueter in Erie, Pennsylvania, Seph grew up with music in his bones but didn’t step fully into his calling until high school, when he gave his life to Jesus and decided to give Him everything. That decision led him to join Damascus Worship, a Catholic missionary movement in Ohio, where he spent years leading worship for retreats, youth camps, and revival gatherings.

It was there — in the quiet moments of ministry and the late‑night songwriting sessions — that Seph’s voice began to carry beyond the walls of Damascus. Friends encouraged him to send his songs to Nashville, and in a leap of faith, he did. One of those songs, Counting My Blessings, unexpectedly went viral, topping charts in Brazil before climbing to No. 1 on U.S. Christian Airplay. Soon after, Provident Music Group signed him, and his debut EP and album began reaching listeners worldwide.

But Seph’s music isn’t just about numbers — it’s about names. Your name. My name. The names of people who’ve walked through brokenness and found blessing on the other side. Never Known feels like a love letter from God to the soul that’s been overlooked, whispering, You’ve never known a love like this because there’s no love like Mine. And Turn It To Praise is a masterclass in worshiping through the waiting — a Romans 8:28 anthem that reminds us God works all things for good, even when the good feels far away.

I’ve lived those lyrics. I’ve had seasons where I felt unseen, unsure, unworthy — and yet grace showed up. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Isaiah 61:3 promises “a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning.” Seph’s songs carry those promises like lanterns in the dark, lighting the way for anyone who needs to be reminded that Jesus is both near and enough.

What makes Seph stand out isn’t just his voice or his melodies — it’s that he doesn’t just sing about Jesus; he sings to Him. Every lyric feels like it’s been prayed before it’s been performed. And that’s why his songs feel like home.

This week’s Artist of the Week isn’t just a title — it’s a testimony. Because when Seph Schlueter sings, heaven feels closer, and the ordinary moments of life start to sound a lot like worship.
