Anike aka Wande’s story is one of courage, faith, and breaking barriers. Born Mutiat Yewande Isola in Nigeria, she was raised in Austin, Texas, in a family where her father was Muslim and her mother was a Christian. That tension shaped her early years, but it also gave her a front-row seat to the power of conviction. Her mother’s faith planted seeds that would eventually take root in Wande’s own life. By seventh grade, she made the decision to follow Christ for herself, even though it meant standing apart from much of her family. That boldness has marked her journey ever since. Before she was ever signed as the first female rapper to Reach Records, she worked behind the scenes as a journalist and A&R rep, learning the industry from the inside. But God had bigger plans. In 2019, she stepped fully into her calling as an artist, and since then she has become a trailblazer in Christian hip-hop, showing young women everywhere that their voices matter in the Kingdom.

One of her most defining songs is Blessed Up. It’s more than a catchy anthem—it’s a declaration of identity in Christ. Listening to it, I’m reminded of Ephesians 1:3: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” The song makes me feel like I don’t have to chase validation from the world, because I’m already blessed in Him. It’s relatable because we all wrestle with insecurity, but Anike reminds us that our worth is already secured in Christ.

Another powerful track is Woo. With its playful energy and bold delivery, it’s a song about living unashamed of the gospel. It connects deeply with Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” When I hear it, I feel the freedom to live my faith out loud, without apology. It’s a reminder that joy and boldness go hand in hand when you know who you belong to.

Then there’s Big God, a song that radiates confidence in the One who is greater than any obstacle. It’s a track that lifts my eyes from my problems to the One who holds the universe. Psalm 147:5 says, “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.” This song makes me feel like no challenge is too big, no dream too far, because the God I serve is bigger than all of it. It’s relatable because we all face moments where our problems feel overwhelming, but Anike reminds us to fix our eyes on the greatness of God.

Anike’s testimony and music remind us that faith is not about fitting in—it’s about standing out. She has shown that God can use anyone, no matter their background, to blaze new trails for His glory. Her songs are more than music; they are invitations to live boldly, to embrace our identity in Christ, and to trust in the greatness of our God. And her example calls us not just to listen, but to act. James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Anike’s life and music challenge us to live unashamed, to walk in blessing, and to declare with confidence that we serve a Big God.
