Chris Tomlin ~ Artist of the Week 9/26/25

Chris Tomlin has been giving the Church its soundtrack for decades. From “How Great Is Our God” to “Holy Forever,” his songs have become prayers we carry into sanctuaries, living rooms, and quiet moments of surrender. This Friday, he releases his eighteenth studio album, The King Is Still The King—a record that feels less like another entry in a long career and more like a declaration for this moment in time.

Tomlin has described the album with one word: celebration. It’s a project that doesn’t just sing about God’s greatness, but actually feels like creation itself joining in the chorus. Wind, thunder, rain, waves, and birds are woven into the soundscape, reminding us that all of creation is already praising Him. . Listening through the early releases, you can sense that this isn’t just another worship record—it’s an invitation to lift our eyes and remember who sits on the throne.

The lead single, “How Good It Is,” has already become a personal anthem for me. Nearly every word is pulled straight from Scripture—Psalms 92, 98, 100, and 113—and when I hear it, I’m reminded that worship isn’t about how I feel in the moment, it’s about proclaiming who God is. Singing along, I feel my spirit realign with truth: He is good, He is faithful, and He is worthy.

Another track, “Doesn’t He,” carries a gentler weight. It’s the kind of song that sneaks up on you, asking the simple question: doesn’t He always come through? For me, it’s been a reminder in the middle of unanswered prayers that God’s track record is perfect, even when my perspective is not. It’s a song that steadies me when my faith feels thin.

And then there’s “He Has Done Great Things,” a collaboration with Phil Wickham. This one feels like a celebration service wrapped in melody. Every time I hear it, I think of Psalm 126:3—“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” It’s a song that doesn’t just encourage me personally, it pushes me to look outward, to remember that God’s goodness is not just my story, but the story of His people across generations.

Taken together, these songs remind me that trusting God isn’t passive—it’s active celebration. It’s choosing to sing when the storm clouds gather, to declare His kingship when the world feels shaky, to join creation in its endless chorus of praise.

My prayer is that The King Is Still The King meets you right where you are this week. Whether you’re weary, waiting, or rejoicing, let these songs lift your eyes to the throne and remind you that nothing has changed—He is still reigning, still faithful, still good.

Chris Tomlin’s brand‑new album The King Is Still the King is a celebration of God’s faithfulness and a reminder that worship is more than singing — it’s a way of life.
